Bonar Hall was built in 1977 to serve the University of Dundee and the people of Dundee and district.
The Hall was named after Sir Herbert Bonar, a member of a well known Jute manufacturing family in Scotland, who provided the funding for the building. Sir Herbert was keen that the Hall should be a benefit to the local people as well as the University, and in this his wishes have been fulfilled.
Bonar Hall is a very popular venue for all kinds of social events, formal or informal. It was purposely built to be flexible, so that a wide variety of functions all look equally at home in Bonar Hall. It is often used as a venue for:
- weddings
- christenings
- conferences
- concerts
- fashion shows
- dinners
- parties
